Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year (with the exception of the I-40 Shelby
County Welcome Center that closes each evening), our 16 state-operated Welcome
Centers offer partners an unmatched opportunity to place promotional materials
directly in the hands of visitors actively planning their itineraries on the fly.

Welcome Center Familiarization Tours provide a hands-on training opportunity for Welcome Center Staff. Whether for a one-day informative session or a multi-day overnight stay, these tours are an educational opportunity for our team. There’s no better way for our frontline staff to be able to accurately communicate to our guests all that a destination has to offer, than to personally experience it. Tours are planned in partnership with area DMOs, hotels, restaurants, and attractions- allowing the Welcome Center team to engage with these partners and strengthen relationships. Each FAM tour brings together about ten to thirty members of our Welcome Center staff who will then share the information with their teams and inspire extended stays in different parts of the state.

An opportunity to promote tourism in rural communities at no cost to the partner. Partners work with TDTD staff to develop posters and talking points. Posters are prominently displayed at TDTD Welcome Centers in corresponding regions to maximize exposure to visitors.

Welcome Centers are available throughout the year and serve as an excellent resource to support our partners and help promote their needs. There are several opportunities partners can take advantage of, including free brochure placement, advertising on TV monitors, participating in National Travel and Tourism Week, and having displays or activation at various times during the year. Additionally, scheduling meetings with TDTD Division Managers will help ensure that we are meeting all partner needs effectively.
Tennessee operates 16 Welcome Centers, which act as a contact point for travelers entering or exiting Tennessee. They distribute information on the state’s tourist attractions, accommodations, natural resources, history and also serve as a traveler safety rest break. Welcome Centers are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, except for I-40 Shelby County Welcome Center, which is closed each evening.
