The Tennessee Highway Safety Office joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Tennessee Department of Transportation, and TDTD for three press events to support the Tennessee Trucking Association and Foundation during its annual “Memorial Holiday Safety Break” on May 25 at rest areas across the state. TDTD’s Assistant Commissioner of Welcome Centers, Pete Rosenboro provided remarks.
Members of Tennessee’s Road Team and the Tennessee Trucking Association Safety Management Council promoted highway safety and free refreshments for those traveling the holiday weekend. The Tennessee Trucking Association displayed a tractor-trailer onsite to illustrate the four blind spots located around large vehicles where crashes are likely to occur. Topics like the importance of buckling up, slowing down, keeping a safe following distance, risks of drowsy driving and distracted driving were also discussed.
