Commissioner Triplett presented Laura Munn, Northeast Tennessee Regional Welcome Center Manager, and Jackie Rain, Welcome Center Manager at I-26 Unicoi, 35-year service plaques at the I-26 Unicoi Welcome Center. Munn and Rain have served TDTD during their entire state government careers.
Laura Munn started her career with TDTD in 1983 and helped to open the I-40 Cocke Co. (Hartford) Welcome Center in 1991. She became the manager of that center in 1996, becoming the Northeast Tennessee Regional Manager in 2005. In her career, Munn has overseen the building and opening of three welcome centers: the I-40 Cocke Co. (Hartford) Welcome Center, I-26 Unicoi Co. (Erwin) Welcome Center and I-26 Sullivan Co. (Kingsport) Welcome Center. Under her leadership, I-40 Cocke Co. (Hartford) Welcome Center and I-26 Unicoi Co. (Erwin) Welcome Center have been named Welcome Center of the Year and I-81 Sullivan Co. (Bristol) Welcome Center has twice won the award.
Jackie Rain started with TDTD in 1983 at the Jefferson County Rest Area as a hostess. She became a Welcome Center Assistant when the I-40 Cocke Co. (Hartford) Welcome Center opened. In 2005, Rain was promoted to Welcome Center Manager until she was transferred to the I-26 Unicoi Co. (Erwin) Welcome Center to assist in its opening. “These 35 years have been a great experience... I have met lots of wonderful people and still look forward to going to work every day,” said Rain.
