TDTD and tourism partners showcased the state at the 16 Tennessee Welcome Centers during the nationwide celebration of National Travel & Tourism Week May 6-12.
Partners set up booths with Tennessee-made treats, music, living historians, craft demonstrations, attraction coupons and more. And, the “See Tennessee More Clearly” windshield washing service provided by the TDTD staff Monday May 7 and Friday, May 11 was a hit at the welcome centers as a free windshield washing and a “Soundtrack of America. Made in Tennessee.”-logoed car air freshener were given away.
Tourism is Tennessee’s No. 2 industry, contributing $19.3 billion in economic impact to the state and $1.7 billion in state and local sales tax revenue to the state’s bottom line. More than 14 million travelers visit a Tennessee Welcome Center annually.
