The White House announced today that President Trump signed the Great American Outdoors Act, the single largest investment in America’s national parks and public lands in history.
This legislation marks the most significant conservation accomplishment since Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency.
The act renews U.S. national parks and protects local lands, while also creating over 100,000 additional infrastructure-related jobs.
The legislation will provide $900 million a year in permanent funding to the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), and will allocate $9.5 billion over five years to restore facilities and infrastructure in national parks and public lands.
According to the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, Tennessee is home to approximately 2.4 million acres of public land and waterways. The state is also home to 16 national parks with some extending to multiple states.
