The Adventure Tourism application is now open for communities seeking to become certified as adventure tourism districts pursuant to the Tennessee Adventure Tourism and Rural Development Act of 2011. The act allows certain new tourism-related businesses within adventure tourism districts to qualify for a jobs tax credit.
All interested local governments must submit their completed online applications to TDTD by Aug. 24.
Existing Adventure Tourism communities with no changes since applying must simply submit a letter requesting to be reinstated for three years. If communities wish to add additional districts, a new application is required. Details on the process of reinstating can be found online in the Adventure Tourism policy/ guidance documents. Please read the policy guidance document before completing the online application.
