Partner Guide: Eligibility for a TNVacation Partner Card

What is a Partner Card?

A Partner Card is a featured listing on TNVacation.com used to highlight businesses that define the Tennessee experience. These cards are displayed throughout the site and display high level information for the business. 

Does My Business Qualify?

Because TNVacation.com is an inspiration engine rather than a general business directory, not every business will qualify for a Partner Card. We prioritize destinations over conveniences.

Please review the simple guidelines below before requesting a card.

1. The Basics (Must have all)

• Visitor Ready: Open to the public with regular posted hours.
• Web Presence: A website or active social page where visitors can find info or book.
• Compliance: Fully licensed and in good standing with state regulations. 
• Brand Alignment: The business must be appropriate for a general audience (families and travelers of all ages). 

2. Category Guidelines

Attractions & Entertainment

• Almost Always Eligible: Museums, entertainment venues, tours, and agritourism.
• The Rule: If a tourist would spend at least an hour at your location, you likely qualify.

Lodging (Strictly Curated)

We only feature accommodations that are destinations in themselves. Standard roadside chains or commuter hotels generally do not qualify. To be listed, your property should meet one of the following:

• Resort Amenities: Offers on-site recreation (golf, waterparks, spas) or extensive grounds.
• Historic or Boutique: A property with unique architecture, history, or distinct local design that may offer tours as part of the experience.
• Unique Stays: Treehouses, glamping, houseboats, or themed suites.
• Location: Located directly inside or adjacent to a major tourist attraction (e.g., a lodge within a State Park).

Dining

We feature culinary destinations that would inspire visitors  to explore and have a culinary experience in Tennessee that they cannot find somewhere else.

• We Look For: Locally owned restaurants, "Meat & Three" staples, historic eateries, breweries/distilleries, and chef-driven concepts.
• We Do Not Include: National fast-food chains or standard franchise locations found in other states.

Shopping & Retail

We feature retail that offers a distinct Tennessee product or experience. Standard malls and national chains generally do not qualify unless they offer a flagship experience.

• Local Artisans: Galleries or collectives selling Tennessee-made crafts, art, or goods.
• Historic Shopping Districts: Defined downtown zones with a concentration of local boutiques.
• Destination Retail: Stores that are attractions in themselves (e.g., massive outdoor outfitters, historic general stores, or factory tours).
• Exclusions: Grocery stores, pharmacies, vape shops, standard strip malls, and national clothing chains found in other states.

3. The "Worth the Drive" Test

Attractions & Entertainment

If you are unsure if you qualify, ask this question: "Would a visitor drive 30 minutes out of their way specifically to experience my business?"

• If YES: You are likely a great fit for a Partner Card.
• If NO: We recommend you focus on local directories, as our audience is looking for unique travel experiences.
